about

Another new song put forward for the album and ironed out in rehearsals. Splurged out of Nigel’s dilapidated memory palace while absent-mindedly plucking a guitar, this song grew and grew. Based on a half-remembered, rather melancholy farewell in a crowded dark bar, while the jukebox played rather apt bitter-sweet music. No names needed. It’s all true, at least in Nigel’s rather addled brain. Never (yet) performed live, this is a studio creation and feature some fine vocal ideas from Rob and Els and a tasteful driving bass from Darren. A real band effort and worth all the hard work.

lyrics

Billie Holiday, pervading all we knew
There's something in the air, something dangerous and blue

And you, you walked away, without a glance and then we parted
And you you walked away, that's when I knew the end had started

Cigarettes and beer, shading in the scene
Cafe voices sing, we're strangers in a dream

Billie Holiday, she brings me close to you
She colours all my dreams, a deeper shade of blue
