Putty 02:49
You can read me like a book you can get yourself immersed You can even take a look at my last page first Tonight I'm a slave, to your pheremonal glands I'm putty in your hands Tie me down or tie me up I won't put up a fight Give my heartstrings a pluck you can pluck me when you like To hell with the righteous and blessed are the damned I'm putty in your hands You've got me crawling the floor Got me begging more, begging more I'm lost in your orbit, so bring me in to land I'm putty in your hands

Sun Street 03:44
In a City like this, it's easy to miss, just what I'm not. The future's tomorrow, to beg steal and borrow and tomorrow's all we've got. But if you still need me, there's one place we can meet: Sun Street (X2) Yesterday's done, today's what we've won, who would've thought? When I saw you last you struggled to grasp, how I was caught. But if you still need me, there's one place we can meet: Sun Street (X2) If you're hunting me down, well I'm, well I'm still around. But if you still need me, there's one place we can meet: Sun Street (X3) In a City like this, it's easy to miss, just what I'm not. The future's tomorrow, to beg steal and borrow and tomorrow's all we've got.

They just dragged the river, and found a sliver of skin But the DNA had degraded, I guess I win Somewhere an electric chair is waiting, for you Somewhere an electric chair is waiting, for you I see faces at the window. I hear voices through the floor The dusty road knows where it’s leading, but only the river knows the score Somewhere an electric chair is waiting, for you Somewhere an electric chair is waiting, for you Oh there’s no way of knowing, who dies and who lives Only the river keeps on flowing, and only God forgives Somewhere an electric chair is waiting, for you Somewhere an electric chair is waiting, for you

Gent! 03:07
We found a treasure, a jewel on the map An island of pleasure, in a sea of flat The beer is flowing, the waters are high The bridges are sighing and so am I So when are we going, when are we going to Gent?? Oh oh oh Gent…..oh oh oh oh Gent, oh oh oh oh Gent, oh oh oh ooooh Geeeeeent!!! The lamb it is mystic, adore it and weep But the vicar he nicked it, so its kept in the keep The bar it is Kinky, buzzing with sweat Shall we go for a drinky? You bet! The City goes mental for 10 days in July So do not go gentle, don’t even try The bar it is Kinky, buzzing with sweat Shall we go for a drinky? You bet!

Who would remember, that night in September '93? We sang all evening, and as we were leaving you said to me Write me a song 'bout what we have done this night It's taken so long, but I wanted to get it right The promise I made I'm making it good The songs that we sang, they course through our blood But who would recall, who would recall? A Norwegian would A Slovakian folk bash, fuelled on goulash and wine The Nordic party, they partied so hearty and fine
6.
Billie Holiday, pervading all we knew There's something in the air, something dangerous and blue And you, you walked away, without a glance and then we parted And you you walked away, that's when I knew the end had started Cigarettes and beer, shading in the scene Cafe voices sing, we're strangers in a dream Billie Holiday, she brings me close to you She colours all my dreams, a deeper shade of blue

Tell Her 03:25
Setting sun behind your back Have you lost your tongue, is it love you lack? Well turn up the stars and roll on the night The time is now, the time is right To tell her tell her tell her Just what you feel Tell her tell her tell her That your love is real She’s a mountain, she’s a wall You can’t get over her at all You’re finally standing face to face Now’s the time now’s the place To tell her tell her tell her Just what you feel Tell her tell her tell her That your love is real Get her Get her Get her Before she’s gone Tell her tell her tell her What are you o...............on? What are you on? (what are you on?)

The kids are at school we’ve got six hours of pleasure I don’t as a rule but now I’m a man of pleasure I feel it in my bones I just can’t do this anymore We’re all on the verge of something, be it getting in the beers We’re all on the verge of something baby it’s tears I’ll just check my mails tell my friends what I’m doing I’ve thousands of followers and more I’m accruing There’s a niggling voice that tells me I just can’t do this anymore We’re all on the verge of something, be it getting in the beers We’re all on the verge of something baby it’s tears We’ll put off today then tomorrow we profit The kitchen floor’s clean you can eat your dinner off it If we had any food but time is slipping away (pause) The kids are at home so I climb in my hole I feel it in my bones and I hear the bell toll I just don’t think I can do this anymore

There’s a house on the hill & an abandoned mill, that’s where He built his machine that’s crazy & mean, I swear He’s aimed it at us, with its deranged buzz, we can’t hide. It’s hot on our heels, but no one else feels its mad vibe It's washing us away, washing us away, invisible ray It's science gone mad, in a home-made lab, I’m sure There's no reason or rhyme, for this paranoid crime, and no cure Washing us away, washing us away, invisible ray Washing us away, washing us away, invisible ray It must be destroyed, hurled in the void, before long We scream and we wail, but to no avail, we’re gone Washing us away, washing us away, invisible ray Washing us away, washing us away, invisible ray

The fields we played in they're a housing estate The trees we climbed have met a similar fate We weathered the storm, best buddies were born Our football pitch is now some tower blocks Our two screen cinema a row of charity shops We weathered the storm, best buddies were born Though our world it is changing for good or bad You're my best friend, I ever had We swam in rivers now the Northbound M6 We knew of 3 James Bonds, now there's at least 6 My pals at school have disappeared or worse Middle management it's the modern curse We weathered the storm, best buddies were born Though our world it is changing for good or bad You're my best friend, I ever had

about

"Ever wondered what it’d sound like if Pink Floyd and The Beatles had a jam session? This is the record for you then. Going flawlessly from one sound to the other without missing a beat, this UK group delivers a sound that is eclectic as it is diverse" The Music God's Best of 2018

"Has the listener both bleary eyed and stamping feet with wide grin at one and the same moment" Indie Bands Blog

"The moment the Dylanesque harmonica launches alongside jangly guitar, descending bass and solid drums, the song springs to life and what follows does not disappoint" Fresh On The Net listening post

" ...influences of The Kinks, The Byrds, The Beatles, The Jayhawks – you name it. Production wise, songs don’t get much more polished than this. “Sun Street” offers a mellow, sweet melody and rhythm and an absolutely gorgeous choir accompaniment by the Kitchen Collective Choir ...in terms of style, this one reminded me very much of Pink Floyd...give this last album by The Low Countries a try – some storms are worth listening to" Divide and Conquer Music bit.ly/2UEYyHC

'We Weathered The Storm' is the new and final band album from Indie Folk faves 'The Low Countries'. It features reworked old songs and some beautiful new tracks - 'We Weathered The Storm' is an accomplished indie folk masterpiece comprising of skillful songwriting, amazing musicianship, punctuated with emotive vocal performances from Nigel and Els.
Nigel is now based in yer actual Low Countries and currently looking into performing a few solo gigs, recording a few new songs and keeping an oar in the vast indifferent ocean. He's especially proud of this 2018 album he made with his good friends back in Lancaster, UK - so please enjoy/share, it's very much appreciated.

Nigel and Els formed the Low Countries in 2007 and they've released 8 or so albums and other sundry songs, often to immense critical acclaim - BBC6 Music airplay, BBC Radio sessions, great reviews (see below).
Nigel’s songs have been played on BBC Radio 6, BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio Lancashire, Unpeeled.net, Folk Radio UK, Dandelion Radio, Studio Brussels, Radio Centraal and many others.
