Handmaid's Blush [2015 remix]

from Sundries by The Low Countries

/

about

We recently returned to the location (and inspiration) for our 2008 mini album 'The Failing of the Strains'. It got me thinking about the songs I wrote at the time, especially this one. 'Handmaid's Blush' was the lead track (with video) but I thought I'd pare down the production and let the voices and banjo shine through - hail the Queen of the May!

lyrics

Generations have come, some have come and gone but this one's no longer needed no more.
Battered bruised undone, they'll be all unsung, they're rotten, rancid, to the core.

There's a skin so smooth, sweet and creamy white, flesh to touch and be shared.
Pair her off with our Lord, oh you know I'm right, the Handmaid's Blush must be spared.

They boast roots in our land, they can't flourish here, the boats need filling before I return.
The young and the strong are all good for building, the old and the dead ones, must be burned.
